Who rests here
- David HaMelech — born and niftar on Shabbos, the 6th of Sivan, at the age of seventy. He reigned seven years in Chevron and thirty-three in Jerusalem.
- Shlomo HaMelech and the righteous kings of the house of David, buried in the cave beneath Har Tzion.
- Chizkiyahu HaMelech, at whose grave a sefer Torah and a yeshiva were established.
- Yoshiyahu HaMelech — “before whom there was no king like him, who returned to Hashem with all his heart,” over whom Yirmiyahu lamented: “the breath of our nostrils, the anointed of Hashem.”

The Arizal on Har Tzion
The Maharam Chagiz records in Eileh Masei that when the Arizal came up to Eretz Yisrael he placed his hand on the place of the city of David and described precisely the location of the graves of the kings of the house of David.

Sir Moses Montefiore
Close to the authorities, Montefiore obtained permission for himself and his entire retinue to enter the inner sanctum as far as the chamber of the tziyun. They davened there together and read chapters of Tehillim.

Visiting the tziyun
Come Visit
The tomb of King David sits on Mount Zion, just outside the Old City walls of Jerusalem, along the road descending toward the Kosel. The midnight seder begins with Tikkun Chatzos and runs through the netz minyan at sunrise. Visitors are welcome to join the room.
